The Icing on the Cake by Janice Thompson is a cute book about Scarlet Lindsey, a professional cake baker.  I really wish a sample of her cakes came with the book.  Thankfully, we recently made a trip to our local bakery, The Flying Cupcake, to get my favorite grain-free raw cupcake. 

Scarlet quickly gets drawn into local happenings, especially when there is plenty of drama and distraction from the pizza parlor next door.  Scarlet’s good friend, Bella, has a wanderlust of a brother that comes to take over the family business AND help with the local fund raiser for missions talent show. 

Truly a fun read but definitely fits under my terms of “vacation reading.”
