Twelve Ways to Wreck Your Life

I have had some pretty contrary thoughts running through my head recently.

Destroying my comfort level and challenging me to become more of a follower of Jesus and less of an admirer.

There have been moments where I would have high tailed it, washed my hands, walked away. . . . Given the cold shoulder had I not previously placed myself in front of a wrecking ball.

12 Ways to Wreck Your Life

1. Become radical about waking up early in the morning. . . like before the kids — and spend some time searching and studying the Scriptures (God’s love letter to you). Let me know if you need some suggestions for a good Bible study.

2. Memorize a new Bible passage every seven days.

3. Fast once a week.

4. Purchase a scarf from livefashionABLE, and help create sustainable business for women in Africa. Recently, I gave my MIL a livefashionABLE scarf for her birthday, while on vacation. Talk about a meaningful gift that barely took up any space, but remained beautiful.

5. Sponsor Bible translation with me through One Verse. Give up coffee or whatever your vice may be. . . Until you accumulate $26. And if you don’t want to give up your Starbucks, then use my affiliate links, so that this blog can sponsor more verses monthly.

6. Get involved and mentor a youth — even if you have your own kids. Make one or two teens a part of your family and live life with them. They need you. And really you need them.

7. Don’t judge someone by how they look. Truly serve that person who seems most unlovable.  (By no means am I saying that my precious boy is unlovable — he just has crazy hair!)

8. Serve at Fort Wilderness Family Camp, a little plug for where I am vacationing as I type this (on my phone — hence the challenged formatting).

9. Pick up trash. That piece you just stepped over or the paper blowing in the parking lot.

10. Instead of discounting the beggar, buy them food and sit with them while they eat. If you don’t have the time, carry around gift cards to various restaurants that you can hand out when the time arises.

11. Become a Big Brother or Big Sister.

12. You MUST read Jeff Goin’s book, Wrecked.

    1. Seriously, thank you! So honored you visited my little ‘ol blog! I just loaned your book out to one of my dear friends. I have been talking about it so much . . . I had to share your God-inspired words with her today! Her and I both have a heart to reach out to our neighbors. Thanks for helping me live beyond myself and get back to my missionary life!
