Nick and Noel: Flat Travelers
I’ve been begging my friend, Dianna of Grapevine Studies, to create some flat travelers. I think she got tired of me yammering in her ear every time we spoke on the phone.
Grapevine Studies has officially launched their first set of Flat Travelers. Finally. (Grins – gotta love me boss!)
What are Flat Travelers?
A flat traveler is a drawing or picture that you create or print. It must fit inside an envelope and have the ability to travel through the mail to another home.
Exchanging flats with other families allows you to:
- have a temporary pen pal,
- learn about geography,
- practice your writing skills,
- and show responsibility by taking care of your “borrowed” flat.
Do you have to mail your flat traveler?
No. Nick and Noel are staying with us this December.
BUT that doesn’t mean there won’t be a future flat exchange program with a cousin of Nick and Noel.
(Insert: Grapevine Studies will be hosting a Bible traveling flat link-up soon!)
My bloggy friend, Jimmie, has created an excellent Flat Travelers Squidoo lens with all the in’s and out’s regarding these slim sojourners, if you would like to learn more.
What Can You Do With Nick and Noel?
I have discover that Nick and Noel are great conversation starters.
For example, sweet people who are shopping wondered what on earth my kids were giggling about.
Because we had one of the flats in an unusual location.
We got the opportunity to share that Nick and Noel are from the publisher of our Bible curriculum, which led to homeschooling, which led to life.
But you could also use Nick and Noel to share about Jesus, and about the REAL reason you are celebrating Christmas – not just for the presents.
Where Do I Get Nick and Noel?
You can download Nick and Noel from the Grapevine Studies website.
Print the flat travelers on card stock.
I then ironed laminated Nick and Noel. EZ added a popsicle stick to the back of his Flat Traveler.
Don’t Forget to Post Pictures!
