Fun, fun, fun!!!

This little boy is amazing me.  Letter recognition and reading has exploded.  He is quite impressed with himself, as he should be.

Recently, Ezra has been up to . . .

• Learning about the Resurrection – in an effort to combat the culture’s insistence on celebrating an Easter Bunny.

• Math – Singapore Math . . . we switched recently because his previous math book was getting a bit hard.
• All About Reading . . . thanks to a great conversation with Marie Rippel at the homeschooling conference.
• Handwriting with A Reason for Handwriting . . . he is writing me sweet notes now!  I love it!

• Lots of playing and exploring . .  .

What fun things have you done with your preschooler or 5K’er?

His name isn’t Ezra. Nor is his name Honey Sir Ezra.  Even Mr. Easy won’t work.

He is Buzz Lightyear. 

He will only respond to that name.

Well, the troops are done with their Rest Time . . . back to the school room!  Head on over to Homeschool Creations to see what other families are doing!

I think Sir Honey is going through some growing pains.  I love my son, and I will leave it at that.  Actually, I need to apply some scripture to this.  We are to take the plank out of our own eye before pulling the tiny splinter out of another’s. 

Granola Mom is struggling with creativity in discipling (not to be confused with disciplining) such a charming, physical, often helpful, slightly emotional, handsome, and 100% full-blooded boy that she shares the same house with. 

I know that there are two components to our slightly difficult week . . . we are out of Cod Liver Oil and I’m having a baby. 

Any-hoodle, this week Sir Honey learned about the Letter B. 

He worked with Mr. Smackdown to make tissue paper butterflies.

Gymnastics wrapped up this week.  But hopefully we will continue to have some great fall weather so that Sir Honey gets some activity outside.   

We also read The Big Green Pocketbook, which is part of the FIAR curriculum and completed a lapbook from Homeschool Share.

Square Time

As of today, we will have been in school 25 days.  Sir Honey loves his job of picking the color of the day, rotating who puts the number up on the calendar, and the “snap snap” days of the week song. 

Last week we studied the Letter U and this week we are looking at the Letter D.  (We skipped a few letters since I have a blog post coming up about Dinosaurs!) 

 Highlights

• Letter O number practice —

• “Exercising” with Guidecraft Magneatos . . .

• Copy work for our Memory Verse

• Helped Mr. Smiley do his school work …

• Learned about Little House on the Prairie (see Tot School Post)

• Painted with marbles to create a fire for the Little House on the Prairie cabin.

• Played a great game of soccer . . .

Life School

• Sir Honey spent lots of time with Auntie or “Ne-Ne,” which is what Mr. Smiley calls my dear college friend.  She helped him learn his Awana verse.

• He spent time practicing being a new big brother using our Guidecraft Baby Cradle.

• Learned how to relax when he is in pain . . . makes things less painful (he is supposed to remind me of that when Sweet Pea is born!)  Needless to say, the Little Guy has his first black eye.  But he forgave Mussie!

• Had a great time playing with cousins for our September Birthday’s Celebration
