Quick Hot Chocolate in the Vitamix

If you want your child to be felicitous and inform you that your hot chocolate is better than store-bought hot chocolate (I would hope so!), I highly advise you to make your healthy hot cocoa in the Vitamix.

This recipe served 3 children and myself – with each artisan mug being slightly less than 1 cup.

Vitamix Hot Chocolate Ingredients

dutch pressed cocoa vitamix hot chocolate

  • 3 rounded tablespoons Dutch-press cocoa (dare I mention, yet again, that I have this stuff on auto-ship from Amazon?)
  • 3 tablespoons raw honey (depending on desired sweetness)
  • 3 cups raw milk (or organic whole milk – preferably non-homogenized at least)

Directions

Your instructions are quite simple.  Make sure to dump all ingredients into your LARGE Vitamix container due to the milk expanding to 5 aerated cups of hot chocolate.  Allow contents of blender to vigorously circulate for 5 minutes on high speed at level 10.

At the end of 5 minutes, the liquid will be the perfect drinking temperature:  120 degrees.  Froth and foam will gradually disappear.

Forget the days of scalded milk.  No more ice cubes diluting the chocolate.  And complete control over all ingredients rests in your hands.

  1. That sounds wonderful! I don’t have a Vitamix…..does the same thing happen in another type of blender? I make my own healthy chocolate milk with raw milk & cocoa and a few drops of Stevia. I haven’t tried heating it to make hot chocolate though.

    1. Yes, I think it would work in another blender — I know that because the Vitamix blends at such a high speed — that friction is what heats things up. Let me know if it works!!! Which Stevia do you use? I love Young Living’s brand.

    2. I use Sweet Leaf Sweet Drops for my stevia because that is what is available locally. I’ve never heard of Young Living. I will check it out!

  2. Making this now !! 🙂 just got back from sledding 🙂 I love our vitamix! All the kids can’t wait lol

  3. Our Vitamix (6300) has a hot soups setting. I wonder how this recipe would do on that.

  4. I just made two large mugs of hot cocoa with my Vitamix 6500.
1 1/2 cups of milk and 1 1/2 cups of water with 3 tbs of cocoa, raw sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a tbs of corn starch.
I used the hot soup setting and let it run. I was impressed with the result, and it was very easy to do.
