Vacation Reading: Reluctant Courtship
I discovered A Reluctant Courtship, by Laurie Alice Eakes, thanks to Revell who sent me the novel to read. It happens to be part of The Daughters of Bainbridge House series.
While an intriguing story, this was not a book that I read speedily. Why my reluctance to pick it up each night? Perhaps I was hooked on finishing a certain TV show season on Netflix?
The Plot
Main character, Honore Bainbridge, has been banished to her family’s country estate. While most of us may think this sounds like a good thing, in Honore’s case it was because her family found her to be a disgrace – having dated a traitor and a murderer. I suppose you might begin to question ones morals after two major dating mistakes like that.
She meets a Lord Ashmore, who heralds from America, having come to claim his inheritance. He had been friends with Honore’s father and appears to have discussed marrying Honore before his untimely death.
But Honore’s past wouldn’t bring Lord Ashmore much honor – especially as he was attempting to clear up his own father’s seemingly dark past.
Honore, of course, falls in love with Lord Ashmore and determines to prove his father’s innocence, even though the Lord appears initially to court a wealthy and respectable female. But a few causalities occur in the process.
Want to know what happens? Too bad!!! You have to go read the book!!!!
Thank you for the book to read Revell! I was not paid for this book and all opinions expressed are my own. Cute read. You can find it at your library or on Amazon.
