5 Days With Your Vitamix: Peanut Butter
I don’t like the word “peanuts.”
I just don’t. And I’m not going to explain it. It bugs me. I avoid saying “peanuts” whenever possible.
Peanut butter is fine.
But “peanuts” as an independent noun in a sentence? No thank you.
I also can not stand the smell of peanuts or peanut butter or worse . . . peanut butter breath.
It is permeating my home today. My space.
And no; I am not pregnant.
Peanuts
Peanuts are grown underground. They are susceptible to fungal infections. As a result they are often sprayed with a pesticide. So, what I am trying to tell you is that you should buy organic peanuts.
Not ordinary, cheap peanuts.
Do as I say, not as I do.
Actually, I reused that bottle. The peanuts in that jar . . . are from Costco. I wanted to give you an idea of the size or amount of peanuts that you need to make 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter.
Plus, it was a nice and bright picture.
I have written peanuts way to many times. From here on out, I am going to use a different language when referring to Lo Huo Sheng (Chinese).
Peanut (Rakkasei – Japanese) Butter
Ingredients
- 3 cups unsalted, roasted Zemlianoi Orekh (Russian), preferably organic
- 2-4 tbls raw honey (optional)
- 2 tbls melted coconut oil or olive oil (optional – use if machine is struggling to grind)
Directions
- Dump Amendoim (Portuguese) and optional ingredients in Vitamix container. I used my dry blade. However, next time I would make it with my wet blade.
- Secure lid and make sure your Vitamix is set at VARIABLE and speed #1. Insert tamper.
- Turn machine on and increase speed to #10, and HIGH.
- Using elbow grease, help your Arachide (Italian) meet the blade by pushing legumes toward the swiftly spinning knife of death.
- You don’t want to overwhelm your machine. So listen to her laboring sounds. The machine will make high pitched chugging sounds that will change to to low somewhat painful laboring emissions. This is called transition. {grins} You also might begin to smell your machine . . . it’s called machine sweat. {bigger grin}
But by this time, you should have Ful Sudani (Arabic) butter.
Allow to cool slightly before your children take a large spoonful of Jordnot (Sweedish) butter — unless you want them to burn their tongues. Mani’s (Spanish) get hot under the Vitamix pressure.
Sorry Ezra.
However, it does spread nicely on a sprouted tortilla.
Please refrigerate your peanut butter.
Now you are left with a jar that looks like Erdnuss (German) guts. That is almost worse than the smell.
Almost.
How to Clean a Vitamix Container
To clean your Vitamix container, fill 1/2 full of water and add dish soap.
Place on Vitamix motor.
With lid firmly in place, turn speed to #10 and flip machine to HIGH.
Allow blades to work for 1 minute.
While this lazy cleaning process will not pass the white glove test, it will allow you to clean your jar with newly painted nails. But I still wouldn’t even do that.
I rinsed my jar with hot water and delicately scrapped a few spots and it came out clean!

You are HILARIOUS!!! We have an “Amendoim” allergy here in our home, so I can’t make this but MAN I loved this post!
There is nothing about peanut butter that I don’t love! My all time favorite treat is a peanut butter banana milk shake!!!
I just don’t get people who don’t love it as much as I do….lol.
Oh, I love the TASTE of peanut butter . . . just not the word . . . or the smell . . .
Oh Jodi, you are HILARIOUS! I think you should write more posts like this. I LOVED it, and the kids faces when tasting it. TOO FUNNY! But how can you like the TASTE of peanut butter, but not the smell? 😀
I can’t explain it. It is a recent development. It made me think I was pregnant . . . so I took a test, because I have always adored peanut butter. But alas I am not prego (like you!). I often put my peanut butter in my chocolate/honey smoothie. And I avoid pb & j sandwiches. Sigh. Old age changes ya!
I’d like to write more posts like that, trust me! Something got in me! I had one less kiddo around me? I kept using an online synonym finder . . . the Spirit moved me! Ha!
love it- pinned it – and I’m saving for a vitamix!
First time making peanut butter, I had everything on hand except…. bread. I used 4 Tbls raw honey and 2 Tbls virgin unfiltered coconut oil. I’m resisting the urge to eat whats left at the bottom of my vita that won’t fit in my jar. Great recipe. Thanks so much!
Yippee!!! Yea, we don’t use the bread part so much anymore! Yummy on apples or with carrots!
i’m on the hunt for a vitamix peanut butter recipe that is beyond the one in their cookbook and hoping this is the ONE! going to give it a shot. thanks for sharing and your post was very entertaining!
Yea!!! Enjoy!!! (but don’t buy those commercial peanuts!!!) 🙂
